Like all vehicles, aircraft go through value cycles. So blue book numbers can be over or under valued when you throw the likes fuel costs and pandemics into the mix. Knowing the markets supply and demand is key. It is important to understand everything about an aircraft before assigning a value. From interior, exterior, avionics, engine and prop. Reviewing logbooks, damage history, maintenance history and relevant replacement and repair costs.
Other factors to consider:

  • Modifications that can sway value
  • Safeguards from capital gains
  • Past insurance claims from acts of God
  • Estate sales and taxes there in
  • Insurance, some companies will not insure your craft if too far from blue book value
  • Has the manufacturer functional or will be acquiring parts be costly
  • What will it be worth in the future?
